Job Details

Reporting to the CFO, the director of finance manages and coordinates the day-to-day functions of the Finance Department, including the monthly close process, audit, budget and taxes. This position manages all functions pertaining to compliance, general ledger, accounts payable and receivable for the ASRT and produces accurate and timely financial statements and reports. The incumbent also directs the daily activities of a small, tenured, exempt-level staff.  Relocation to Albuquerque, New Mexico is required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate, oversee and direct the activities of the Finance Department to ensure consistency and collaboration in work processes.
  • Manage the monthly close process, including account analysis and preparation of the financial statements.
  • Review daily financial reports to verify accuracy and approves posts to the general ledger.
  • Assist the CFO with the annual budget preparation and creation.
  • Monitor all financial activities throughout the organization to ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and controls of the organization, including state and federal laws and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Establish standard operating procedures for the Finance Department, as necessary.
  • As a working manager, work alongside the staff ensuring the integrity of all financial data produced by the department.
  • Train staff on internal control procedures. Randomly audit workflow to assure that all accounting transactions are appropriately authorized.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Working in tandem with the CFO, recommend strategic planning with an eye for process improvement.
  • Apply change management techniques to implement systems changes and update departmental procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA or CMA license required. Minimum five years accounting experience with demonstrated ability to accurately maintain a set of books and produce financial statements and reports on a regular schedule. Working knowledge of GAAP. Minimum of three years management-level experience at the director level, with a proven record of operating and managing a team with high ethical standards.

Must possess superior communication, organizational and analytical skills. Exceptional leadership experience building, directing and leading a team of accounting professionals. Must be highly proficient in multiple technology platforms and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook). Preferred experience in Great Plains, Concur, Adaptive and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
