SUMMARY:

Under the authority of the Board of Directors, provides oversight and direction for the planning, development, and management of the daily operation of the child advocacy center. Works in partnership with the Board of Directors, staff, and other key constituents to strengthen the awareness of child abuse while generating support for The C.A.R.T. House.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily Operational Oversight:

  • Ensures leadership for the smooth operation of the Child Advocacy Center (CAC).
  • Oversee all activities to assure objectives are met; including those in strategic planning, marketing, and program development.
  • Prepares annual budget with Board Treasurer for Board approval.
  • Works closely with the Board Chair to enhance participation of Board members.

Key Relationships:

  • Maintains a strong working relationship with the board of directors, Child Advocacy Centers of Oklahoma (CACO), Southern Regional CAC director, National Children’s Alliance headquarters, government officials, grantors, foundations, and contractors.
  • Is accountable to these key constituents and routinely provides verbal or written reports as required.
  • Prepares all board related materials, plans and attends all board meetings, and provides direct oversight and management of all board committees.

 Fiscal Responsibility:

  • Ensures the ethical disbursement of funds and other subcontracts in compliance with appropriate state and federal laws.
  • Assures the financial viability of the CAC through fiduciary oversight of the annual budget, compliance with standard accounting practices, and assures an annual third party audit of financial records is conducted.

 Development/Fundraising:

  • Provides leadership to expand and diversify financial support through annual giving, special events, direct mail, planned giving, capital campaigns, and any other board approved campaigns.
  • Identifies and cultivates individual, foundation corporate, and governmental relationships for the purpose of generating funds to the organization.
  • Assures donor database is maintained and updated.

Strategic Planning, Marketing, and Public Relations:

  • Works in collaboration with the board of directors to plan, develop, implement, and update the Strategic plan for the CAC.
  • Oversees and implements the marketing and public relations plan and activities to include creation of collateral materials, annual report, newsletters, direct mail, and other forms of communication.
  • As appropriate, serves as a spokesperson for the CAC.
  • Maintains Facebook page and website; works to keep both up-to-date.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work with a volunteer board of directors
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with subordinates, board, outside organizations, and the general public
  • Ability to develop and implement short and long-term plans to meet organizational needs
  • Knowledge of modern principles and practices of management and supervision
  • Ability to plan, organize, and oversee assigned programs, including monitoring work schedules, developing and monitoring budgets, and evaluating the work of subordinates
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate operations, develop and implement corrective action to resolve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to perform social and economic research and development
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local policies, procedures, and regulations applicable to program areas
  • Ability and willingness to work independently with flexible hours and travel.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s preferred. Will consider an equivalent of education and/or administrative experience in a non-profit/social service capacity.

Advocacy Center experience preferred, but not required.

Previous experience managing a business or non-profit preferred ($200K-$400K budget).

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES:

• Valid driver's license in state of residence.

• Auto insurance in the amounts required by the State of Oklahoma.

• Access to reliable transportation.

• Acceptable completion of a criminal history background check.

 

REPORTS TO: BOARD OF DIRECTORS

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: FULL-TIME, EXEMPT

SALARY RANGE: $38-$43,000/yr
