Job Details

The Yale Department of Anesthesiology will provide a special opportunity for physician-scientists interested in basic, translational and/or clinical research training within the anesthesia and perioperative sciences. The Department of Anesthesiology at Yale has substantially grown its research mission over the past decade and has vested interests in basic science or translational research, with emphasis on three areas:

  • Cardiovascular Biology (Tissue engineering, Cardiopulmonary physiology)
  • Neurosciences and integrated imaging (pain and opioid tolerance; neurodegenerative diseases, sleep and delirium research)
  • Clinical Research (Critical Care, Enhanced Recovery Research, Bioinformatics, Opioid addiction)

Candidates are invited to apply for a 2-year research fellowship funded by the NIH.

Program Features

The Anesthesia Department has a long-standing Research Scholars Program (RSP) under the umbrella of the NIH T32 postdoctoral fellowship program. The candidates accepted into the RSP will work with designated experienced faculty mentors. At the completion of the two-year research experience, T32-Research Scholars will be extremely well positioned to obtain independent funding of their own and go onto highly productive and independent careers in academic medicine. The training opportunities for this program draw on the outstanding research faculty in Yale’s School of Medicine and Yale University. Training activities span grant writing, ethics, biostatistics, etc.

Eligibility:   MD or MD/PhD, with clinical focuses in anesthesiology, critical care and pain medicine; U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals or permanent residents only

Interested candidates may send a letter of interest, CV and 2 reference letters to Laura Niklason, MD, PhD, Professor, Department of Anesthesiology at laura.niklason@yale.edu.

Yale University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. Women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and members of underrepresented minority groups are encouraged to apply.
