Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager Public Sector

Location: Vienna, VA or Newtown Sqaure, PA

Job Overview

The Security Operations Manager will plan, build, direct and control the functions and operationsof SAP Concurs Public Sector SOC. The SOC Manager will also develop and maintain processes and procedures associated with security monitoring and use cases to respond to potential security incidents and promote timely escalation and incident coordination among SAP Concur, its customers and stakeholders. Lead effort in monitoring data and security events to identify potential threats or attempts to compromise security controls.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run support organization, managing security 24x7 for critical infrastructure and applications.
  • Coordinate directly with government personnel on Incident Response.
  • Oversee monitoring, identification, escalation, and resolution of security incidents.
  • Adhere to all contract requirements and deliverable agreements.
  • Lead development and implementation of policies associated with security monitoring efforts.
  • Communicate performance indicators to help stakeholders understand SOC responsibilities.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators, identify opportunities to improve team metrics and adjust processes as necessary.
  • Manage, track, and communicate threats to leadership along with any impact to risk profile.
  • Develop, train and mentor staff.
  • Partner with service teams across the organization to drive efficiencies.
  • Instill a culture of operational excellence, driving continual improvements.
  • Management duties for all security equipment, including IDS/IPS devices, Data Loss Prevention, SIEM.
  • Respond to alerts and investigate potential security incidents.

Education, Experience and Training Required

  • 8+ years of experience in the Cyber Security field with emphasis on security operations, incident management, intrusion detection, firewall deployment, and security event analysis.
  • Experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) security setting is desired, with related work in the following areas: Information Assurance, Risk Assessment, Security, Forensics and Incident Response.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Department of Defense IT Security Assessment and Authorization Process, based on the Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST 800-53 controls.
  • Thorough understanding of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, Federal Information System Modernization Act (FISMA), The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) and Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (SRG), and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
  • Desired certifications include CISSP, Security+, GCIH, CEH, GMON.
  • BS Degree
  • Must have U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a background check.

Job Specific Knowledge or Skills

  • Understands security best practices, threats, mitigating techniques and evolving security landscape.
  • Experience with a scripting language a plus.
  • Experience performing analysis utilizing SIEM technologies.
  • Experience performing analysis utilizing IDS/AV/Firewall consoles both commercial and open source.
  • Aptitude for translating complex, technical subjects into clear, business-oriented communications.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting public and private cloud and data center hosted technologies.
  • Strong budget and financial management acumen.
  • Applied understanding of network design principles and common enterprise technologies.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
