Job Details

University of Tartu, Estonia is calling for applications from highly promising early-career researchers to fill six Independent Junior Research Group Leader positions:

  1. Data Analytics
  2. Mixed Reality
  3. Artificial Intelligence
  4. Health Informatics
  5. Information Security and Privacy
  6. Collaborative Robotics (at Institute of Technology)

The new Research Groups will be created as part of a national strategic initiative to boost the Estonian ICT research capacity. Each position comes with a seed grant of 1.25 million euros over 5 years which will cover the salary of the group leader, two postdoc positions, three PhD studentships, and other expenses. Group Leaders will be recruited at the level of Senior Research Fellow (termless position) with a career path towards professorial positions.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Leading and performing high level R&D activities
  • Supervising postdoctoral, PhD and Master's students in their research activities
  • Seeking additional prestigious funding and growing the research capacity
  • Conducting teaching
  • Developing collaborations with industry

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of postdoctoral experience
  • High-quality publications in the finest venues in their specialty
  • An ambitious long-term research vision
  • Ability to attract prestigious grants and high-level funding in a four-years horizon, such as an ERC Starting or Consolidator Grant, FET project, DARPA project, or other substantial and prestigious grants
  • Excellent command of English language
