About this unit:

  • 25 Bed Unit.
  • Level 2 Trauma Center providing care to medical, surgical, neuro, cardiac and trauma patients. 
  • Cohesive teamwork, opportunity to be trained and developed by top notch nurses, educators, mentors and physicians.
Responsibilities:
  • Under the general direction of the Director or Manager, the RN coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care.
  • Nursing care is provided in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, and the generic and unit structure standards.
  • The Nurse in 650/ICU provides care for newborn/pediatric patients between 2 weeks to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older. Adaptable and flexible with the ever changing acuity and census. Assignments may change according to the census or change of acuity in the patient.

Qualifications

What Qualifications You Will Need: 

  • Graduate of school of nursing required. 
  • Current Kansas RN licensure required. Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. Current BCLS certification required. ACLS certification required within 3-6 months of hire. Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Minimum one year RN experience on a Medical Surgical Unit or Telemetry.

Medical Intensive Care Unit

Memorial Hospital of Tampas 12-bed intensive care unit provides highly skilled nursing for critically ill patients. Using advanced patient monitoring technology and sophisticated medical equipment, we provide continuous, comprehensive care for patients with serious conditions, including those recovering from heart attacks, surgery, stroke, severe accidents or complex illnesses.

 

To meet each patients unique needs, we follow a multi-disciplinary approach that involves doctors, nurses, dieticians, pharmacists, physical and respiratory therapists and social services. Our team is dedicated to providing expert healthcare and to treating patients with the compassion and respect they deserve.

 

A large nurse workstation, located right outside the patient rooms, enables the ICU nursing staff to respond quickly to emergencies or any other patient need.

  • Coordinates and manages clinical studies according to OHRP and FDA regulations, as well as, ICH Good Clinical Practices and IRB requirements.

  • Develops any necessary study documents not provided by sponsor or IRB 
  • Educates HCA staff regarding research and study protocols 
  • Screens and recruits patients based on protocol criteria 
  • Explains study protocols, procedures and treatments to patients and families 
  • Conducts the Informed Consent process in conjunction with study investigators
  •  Ensure that an original copy of any subjects Informed Consent Document is the in the research binders, as well as, a copy on the subjects medical record. 
  • May function as Primary Coordinator for research studies

  • Coordinates with Pharmacist if on Delegation Log 
  • Administers Investigational Drug as per protocol

  • Complete all paperwork affiliated with the study, including but not limited to the requirements of the facility, the IRB and the study Sponsor

  • Maintain professional relationships with sponsors, Clinical Research Organizations, research teams, pharmacies, laboratories, IRBs, and hospitals for the coordination of research activities
